3D Cameras

3D imaging provides knowledge about the objects height, shape or volume. There are several technologies available to capture accurate 3D images. Your choice depends on the object size , surface characterstics, speed and desired accuracy. The most common technique is laser triangulation where a sheet of light (laser line) is projected onto an object, and the cross-sectional line of the light sheet and the object is recorded with a 3D camera. The 3D profile of the object is computed in the camera by means of triangulation. Other techniques involves Structured Light, Time of Flight and Stereo Imaging.
